Armand Strainchamps was born in Dudelange (Grand Duchy of Luxembourg) in 1955. In 1978 he entered the Académie Royale des Beaux Arts de Bruxelles and in 1979 the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de La Cambre. In 1985, he obtained a diploma from the ENSAV de La Cambre. At the age of 25 he had his first solo exhibition, since when the artist has taken part in more than sixty exhibitions and projects.

Armand Strainchamps is interested in engraving and copy art, and enjoys working with architects and creating urban installations across the Grand Duchy. His main inspiration comes from the cinema: "The freeze frame comes from cinema. I've always been fascinated by slow motion and speed. It's fantastic what you can do with them! Reality disappears. When used in painting, the representation remains totally open. When you look at a photograph, you perceive time as having passed. In painting, time is always now. Armand Strainchamps
